"Hiking" in LA

The day before Jason had to leave to China, we wanted to do something fun and outdoorsy.  My friend Angie and I had went to this cool park a few weeks ago, so I decided to take Jason.  There is a park on top of a hill that overlooks the whole city..and you can even see the Hollywood sign.  There is also a cool little trail that we "hiked" on.
The best part of this trail was the section of workout equipment.  The boys loved working out at each station.
Each workout area also had some sort of animal that they could climb on.
On to the next workout station...
..and the next animal.
Surfin' USA
Creepy bunny
We went to play on the playground after our leisurely stroll.  Since it was a weekend the park was very crowded.  But no one was on the basketball courts and luckily, Ryden brought his ball.  The hoop was super high but that didn't stop basketball Jones.  He actually made this shot.  He is really good at making shots.  Now if he could be aggressive during games we would have quite the basketball player on our hands.
We called it a day and headed home.  I believe parks are better on weekdays.  Less people!

Parent Magazine photo shoot

On Friday, Trevin and I drove to Malibu for a photo shoot for Parent magazine.  The shoot took place at this gorgeous house in the hills of Malibu.
I mean...there was a tennis court, swimming pool, huge grass area, and a tent.
We waited around for a little bit and I let Trev play on my phone.  When he handed it back, I had about 60 selfies on it.  At least he was entertained.
It was time for wardrobe and hair.  The hairstylist loved Trevin.  She said she found a new Bff.  We headed down to the grass area to take some pics.
The model who played Trevin's 'mom' could've been my daughter.  But she was so good with him and they became fast friends also.  The crew were getting a kick out of Trev.  After every shot, Trev would say "I think I done now" but then would say "I kidding.  Let's take more".
Waiting in between takes.
Such a fun experience.  Everyone was so nice and we were only there for a short time.  Too bad I can't say the same about the traffic we sat in on the way there and back!  Dang California.
When we were getting ready to leave, we went back up to the house to change into his clothes.  Trevin was undressing and he looked around and said "This is such a beautiful house".  The stylist starting dying of laugher.  Trevin sure knows how to woo the ladies.

Country Western Day

Growing up in Arizona, I know what country western day is all about.  So it was nice that Trevin's preschool had a day to celebrate the west.  I volunteered, so I got to see all the kids participate in the cool activities.
They panned for gold
They milked 'cows'
They rode ponies
And got to pet some animals.  Trevin was super excited to chase the goats, ducks, and pigs.
This goat looks scared to death!  I would be too!
Where can I purchase a duck with an afro?  I need one for a pet asap!
The kids were not so impressed when they had to stay on the opposite side of the fence to see the alpacas.  Boring!
I dug through my closet and pulled out my best western gear.  Yee haw!
 All the cute kiddos

Three Piggy Opera

Ryden's kindergarten class didn't put on a performance for Christmas.  Instead, they did the Three Piggy Opera play.  It was pretty legit.  Each kid had to audition for the parts they wanted and the teacher picked who was the best fit.  Ryden originally wanted to be a brick (part of the brick house), but he got the part of brick pig instead.  Pretty good part if you ask me.
I didn't get any pictures of the actual play because I had to stand on a table in the back to see while holding Trevin.  Danger.  And Jason was busy video taping on his phone.  But they all lined up at the end of the play and we got a group shot.
It really was the cutest little play ever.  All the kids were great!  I knew all the songs by heart since we had been playing the CD over and over so Ryden could learn the words.  So when they asked the audience to sing a long I was all over that!
My little brick pig...

10/52

FUNNY STORY:  Trevin is really into reading signs just like Ryden used to be.  We were at the park and he saw this sign and said "Mama, no walking on clouds":

Uncle Fred and Marissa visit

My Uncle Fred, 'baby' cousin Marissa and her friend went to Magic Mountain for her spring break.  They were so sweet to head down to our neck of the woods for a visit.  We headed to Redondo, near Uncle Fred's old stomping grounds.
We ate a quick lunch and then headed to the ghetto arcade area to spend some money.  Everyone was too chicken to ride the tilt-a-whirl so we just played some games instead.
Yep...that's my baby cousin with my 5 year old.
On our way out of the arcade, Marissa and Fred had to show us how strong and tough they were...
Marissa was pretty tough
..but Uncle Fred almost got to the very top with his muscles.  He blamed it on a slippery hand for not getting the highest score.  Umm hmmm...yeah right.
 BAM!
We headed back to walk around the pier and also grabbed a 'churros' (that one is for you Cody).
It was a short visit but so much fun!  We loved hanging!
